Privacy Policy

This policy describes the information collected during a visit, why it is used, and the limited circumstances in which others may receive it. By using Lane County Criminal History, you accept these practices.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. We do not retain or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email or contact submission may be kept so our team can respond. We do not disclose the message outside the organization unless the law requires disclosure.

Data We Gather Automatically

Our servers automatically receive certain technical details when a page loads:

  • The IP address assigned to your device
  • Which browser you are using and its version
  • Your device type and operating system
  • The pages you visited and how long you stayed on each
  • The site that sent you here, if any
  • Timestamps for each page view

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files placed on a device. We use them with analytics services to review traffic in aggregate, including popular pages and common exit points. A browser can block cookies, though doing so may change how some site functions behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Keeping the site up, running, and loading quickly
  • Sending your search requests to the right partner service
  • Figuring out which pages people find useful and which need work
  • Tracking down and fixing technical issues
  • Showing ads that may line up with your interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Lane County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It identifies request routes at Lane County Sheriff's Office, Oregon courts, Oregon State Police Criminal Justice Information Services, and the Oregon Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not assembled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the site's search boxes. Their privacy policies, retention periods, and disclosure practices govern information submitted to those tools. Review the applicable provider policy before running a query.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to Lane County offices, Oregon court portals, state agencies, legal-aid organizations, and outside search providers. Once you leave this site, the destination's privacy terms control. Read those terms before providing personal information.

Certain advertising partners may track your activity across sites to show targeted ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

  • Search partners that handle queries you run on our site
  • Analytics services we use to track traffic and performance
  • Ad networks that place ads on our pages
  • Law enforcement or government bodies when a valid legal order requires it

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable security practices protect the information we collect. No internet system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.

Users Under 18

This service is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. A verified report involving a minor will be addressed by deleting the information.

Your Data Rights

Depending on residency and applicable exemptions, the Oregon Consumer Privacy Act, ORS 646A.570 through 646A.589, may provide rights concerning personal data. Oregon Public Records Law, ORS 192.311 through 192.478, governs records held by public bodies, while ORS 181A.220, 181A.230, and 181A.245 control confidentiality and public dissemination of state criminal-history information. Requests to this private site may include:

  • Ask for a copy of what we have on file about you
  • Have us fix information that is wrong
  • Request that we erase your data
  • Opt out of certain kinds of data processing
